An Honour

Reflecting the team effort which enables MINDFUL EMPLOYER to run, these updates appear with no name on them but from the one shown above you’ll have worked out who writes them! So… I am delighted to tell you that I have been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to mental health in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2018.

I feel deeply honoured and humbled by this recognition. I have always tried to maintain (somewhat unsuccessfully!) that what has been achieved, particularly that around Mindful Employer, is not just about me.  This honour is a real tribute to the many clients I have endeavoured to support over the years and from whom I have learnt so much; my wonderful colleagues at Workways and others within Devon Partnership NHS Trust; the MINDFUL EMPLOYER Advisory Group and our Partnership Organisations; and the hundreds of employers, organisations and individuals who have committed themselves to supporting what we do and the message we convey – including you. As I enter my last six months in this particular vocation, I would like to thank you again for all your support, affirmation and encouragement.

 

Newest Charter signatories

The Charter for Employers who are Positive About Mental Health has, in many respects, been the ‘flagship’ of MINDFUL EMPLOYER and while we are gradually nearing 2,000 employers have signed it since it began in 2004, it’s also worth a reminder that any employer can be part of this initiative, signatory or not. Indeed, we have around another 750  businesses and organisations who we are in touch with  who are not signatories. Moor Good Practice

Dartmoor National Park Authority have been a Charter signatory since 2011 and if you have watch the film we made for our 10th Anniversary in 2014 you’ll see it features Neil White, Head of Organisational Development (formerly Head of HR). Neil has recently joined the MINDFUL EMPLOYER Advisory Group and has provided a copy of a memo sent around to staff – do take a read. Perhaps you can do something similar?
