Exciting  opportunity to Lead MINDFUL EMPLOYER

We have an exciting opportunity to become the new Lead for MINDFUL EMPLOYER. Employed by Devon Partnership NHS Trust and based at Workways in Exminster, near Exeter, the post holder will lead and further develop this UK-wide initiative. The post holder will manage a Business Administrator and monitor a team of trainers, and be required to deliver training and speak at conferences.  Experience of supporting employers and helping people with a mental health condition to retain employment are essential to the role. Full details can be found on the NHS Jobs website.

  Probably the best?

While it may not be for us to say that MINDFUL EMPLOYER is probably the best employer-focussed initiative on mental health, we are delighted that Carlsberg UK have signed the Charter for Employers who are Positive About Mental Health. The Northampton-based company employ 700 people across several sites in Great Britain and join an ever-growing and increasingly diverse group of businesses and organisations making this commitment to their staff. Other new signatories in the last month or so are:

The wording of the Charter itself has remained virtually unchanged since it was first developed in 2004 when MINDFUL EMPLOYER was launched. In recent months, the MINDFUL EMPLOYER Advisory Group (which comprises of employer representatives from a range of businesses and organisations and provides support, advice and guidance for us here at Workways) has been reviewing that wording. Times have changed since 2004, particularly with generally improved understanding and awareness of mental health and the impact that conditions can have on individuals and workforces. So, while the principles and aspirational statements are very much the same, we have changed some of the wording of the Charter and this can now be viewed at

  MINDFUL EMPLOYER in Switzerland

For the third year running, MINDFUL EMPLOYER is delighted to have been invited to speak at the Annual Disability Matters Europe Conference. Attended by business professionals from across the continent, this year’s event is being held near Zurich in Switzerland from 5-7 November and we’ll be contributing to a special session on mental wellbeing.

  Mental Health Awareness Training

Widely recognised as a key way of increasing the confidence of managers and staff in being able to talk about mental health, we provide a range of workshops which can be delivered to your staff on your premises. Take a look at the workshops we provide – they can be made bespoke too. We are sad to be saying goodbye to Kim Hewett, our Training Coordinator at the end of this month. Kim has played an invaluable role in developing and expanding our training provision and she will be greatly missed. Training enquiries can now be addressed to Andrea Adey, who has been part of our team of workshop facilitators for a couple of years now -
