Corporate business executives from across Europe gathered in Paris on 23-24 June for the 4th Disability Matters Europe conference and learnt more about the importance of supporting mental wellbeing.
Sharing the stage with Akiko Hart, Director of Mental Health Europe, Richard Frost, who leads MINDFUL EMPLOYER explored the importance of supporting and educating line managers, enabling disclosure and conversation, senior management commitment and the overall business benefits of recruiting and retaining staff who experience mental ill health. Liaison with healthcare professionals and accessing local support were also emphasised.
"It was a real privilege to be invited to be a this event," said Richard. "It was the first time this annual conference had put mental health on the agenda and it's recognised that the UK is a leader in this area of work. There was certainly a lot of interest and it would be good to see MINDFUL EMPLOYER develop in to Europe as a result.”
Representing companies such as AXA, BNP Paribas, Cisco, EMC, Lloyds Banking Group, Shell and JP Morgan, delegates came from France, Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and elsewhere.
